A private scholarship funded by the alumni of Montgomery Blair High School, community members, colleagues and friends of retired School Counselor, Charlain Bailey. This scholarship provides financial support and financial aid counseling to graduating seniors from Montgomery Blair High School in Silver Spring, Maryland that plan to pursue an Associate’s degree, Bachelor’s degree or professional certification as a first generation student.
Bailey’s Dream First Generation Scholarship Fund, Inc. - A Non Profit 501(c)(3) Corporation was established by Charlain Bailey. She was a school counselor at Montgomery Blair High School for eighteen years and an employee of Montgomery County Public School for thirty years. .
Ms. Bailey dedicated her career to supporting students throughout their high school years and assisted all students with their post high school transition plans, which included career and college planning/attainment. As a result, Ms. Bailey has developed long standing mentoring relationships with her former students. Many of those students were first generation college students.
Through this experience, she realized the transformative power of a college education for first generation students and their families. Upon her retirement in 2018, she decided to continue to be an active member of the Community and partnered with alumni to establish the Bailey’s Dream – First Generation Scholarship Fund, Inc.
